MP gets its 7th Tiger Reserve, to be called 'Veerangana Durgavati'

Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve, the seventh in the state of Madhya Pradesh, which is home to the most tigers in the nation, is a new protected area for the big cats.

With a view to guaranteeing the survival of wild creatures, the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has announced a number of sites within Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve, an official said.

 

Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Satpura, Pench, Panna, and Sanjay-Dubri are the six tiger reserves that are already located in MP.

According to the paper 'Status of Tigers: Co-predators & Prey in India-2022', released in July this year by the National Tiger Conservation Authority and Wildlife Institute of India, MP (785) has the most tigers in the country, followed by Karnataka (563) and Uttarakhand (560).
