Following the reported death of two Meitei teenagers allegedly killed by alleged Kuki militants, a large number of students demonstrated in Imphal on 26 September, according to NE Now News. Thousands of students took to the streets in Imphal today to demand justice for two missing Meitei college students, who disappeared on July 6 during the height of communal clashes in Manipur.
After the internet was restored in the northeast state of Manipur, the pictures of the two missing students started circulating on social media. One of the pictures showed the two students' dead bodies while the other showed them sitting in terror with two armed men behind them.
The Manipur Government has confirmed that the bodies of two deceased Meitei students have been identified. According to the details, the deceased students are a student, Hijam Lintoingambi, aged 17, and a student, Phijam Haitjit, aged 20. The timeline of the images shows that Luwangbi went for a ride on Hijam's KTM bike on July 6th, and has not been seen since.

According to NDTV, the two students were last seen in Bishnupur district, 35 km from Churachandpur. The two were allegedly kidnapped from an area between these two districts and taken to Churachandpur.
Mobile internet services, which were suspended as ethnic violence erupted in Manipur in early May, were restored after over four months on Saturday.
