Sarman Odedara, 40, was severely attacked by the garba organizers in Porbandar over a dispute over a gift for the Navratri event, and he eventually passed away from the injuries he received. The confrontation happened after his 11-year-old daughter apparently received less award money than she was promised.
The police reported on Wednesday a 40-year-old father was fatally beaten with a bat, allegedly by the organizers of a "garba" event in Gujarat, after he got into an argument with them over his 11-year-old daughter's complaint that she was only awarded one reward even though she had won two events.
Sarman Odedara, the victim, was allegedly attacked by seven guys around 2 am in the morning on Tuesday outside the Krishna Park Society in Porbandar with sticks and other blunt items, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Rutu Raba
The police "arrested all seven accused involved in the murder of Odedara," Raja Kuchhadia, Raju Keshwala, Pratik Gorania, Ramde Bokhiria, and three of their collaborators were among the accused.
According to the first information report (FIR), the accused had planned a garba celebration on the occasion of Navratri, close to the Odedara family's home, Krishna Park, and a nearby school.
Odedara's wife Maliben complained to Udhyognagar police in Porbandar that she went to confront the organizers on Monday night after their 11-year-old daughter complained that the organizers had only given her one prize even though she had won two different events.
Maliben complained to the organizers about her daughter, and it seems that Keshwala told her to accept the outcome in an impolite manner. She was urged to take the prize or leave it, according to the FIR.
Soon after, Kuchhadia and Bokhiria also showed up and supposedly got into a fight with Maliben. If she stayed there, they even threatened to kill her. The wives of Kuchhadia and Keshwala allegedly verbally abused Maliben and demanded that she leave the area, according to the FIR. At around one in the morning, Maliben and her daughter returned home.
According to the FIR, the four main accused and three of their associates arrived on motorbikes and began beating Odedara with sticks and wooden planks an hour later as Maliben and her husband were seated outside their home.
When Maliben attempted to save her husband, she too sustained injuries. The accused then rode their motorcycles to the Garba location and gave Odedara a beating.
The cops took Odedara to a hospital and tried to save him, but could not save him. according to the FIR.
