The Lok Sabha saw a rich display of India's linguistic variety as new MPs took their oaths on Monday. Members used various languages, including Sanskrit, Hindi, Dogri, Bengali, Assamese, and Odia.

- INDIA Bloc Protests as New MPs Take Oath.

The INDIA bloc (opposition alliance) held a protest outside Parliament on June 24. This happened while newly elected MPs were being sworn in inside the Lok Sabha. Opposition MPs marched to the Lok Sabha together, chanting slogans about "them saving the Constitution."

The inaugural session of the 18th Lok Sabha, commencing today, will include the solemn "Observance of Silence," symbolising the significance of the first sitting of the 18th Lok Sabha.

  • Following this reflection, Parliament will conduct the oath-taking ceremony for newly elected members, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
     
  • An official letter marking the list of business for the day in parliament mentioned, "Observance of silence for a short while to mark the solemn occasion of the first sitting of the Eighteenth Lok Sabha."
     
  • "Secretary-General to lay on the table a list (Hindi and English versions), containing the names of Members elected to the Eighteenth Lok Sabha at the General Elections of 2024, submitted by the Election Commission of India," added the list of businesses.
     
  • Furthermore, the list mentioned "members to take the oath or make the affirmation, sign the Roll of Members, and take their seats in the House."
