The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the petitions by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, challenging his arrest and bail in the alleged excise policy scam case, today, 4 September 2024. According to the cause list, a bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan will hear the plea. This comes after the top court allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file its counter affidavit in the matter on August 23, giving Kejriwal two days to submit his rejoinder. Kejriwal, the AAP convener, has filed two separate petitions-one challenging the refusal of his bail and another against the validity of his arrest by the CBI.

The petitions have also been assailed to the Delhi High Court order, dated August 5, that upheld the CBI's arrest of Kejriwal on June 26.
