#TribesOfIndia (Ep 1) : Can a festival really happen only once every 12 years?
Meet 'Jani Shikar' (also known as Mukka Sendra), an ancient and powerful tradition practiced by tribes across Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh.
Legend has it that 500 years ago, when the Rohtasgarh Fort was attacked on the day of Sarhul, the men were exhausted from celebrations.
Stepping up to protect their land, women led by Princess Sinai Dai, Keli Dai, and Champa Dai donned men's clothing and picked up weapons to fight off the invaders.
The enemy was so intimidated by this show of force that they retreated, believing a full army was defending the fort.
To this day, women honor this bravery by dressing as men and performing a symbolic hunt.
This story is a powerful reminder that female strength is a historic reality, often overlooked in mainstream history.
