The Thathri village in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir has also developed cracks, and the villagers are concerned that another Joshimath is in the works around them. This comes just a few weeks after cracks began to appear throughout the Joshimath region in Uttarakhand.
The Nayi Basti area of Thathri village, which has cracks and is on a slope, has panicked residents who claim it is becoming uninhabitable. They have begun to relocate to safer locales. Additionally, they have requested a different land allocation from the J&K administration.
One of the 21 buildings in Thathri that have developed cracks has collapsed. A team from the Geological Survey of India (GSI) is investigating Thathri, a village in Doda, and officials claim that the GSI's report will only be able to determine the root cause of the cracks. However, the calamity in their village is, according to the villagers, the result of road construction in the area below.
