J&K Violence: Security Forces Eliminate 1 Terrorist, 3 soldiers dead

In an encounter with terrorists on Friday in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, three Army soldiers were killed, according to officials.Security officers started a cordon and search operation in the upper reaches of the Halan forest region of the Kulgam district in south Kashmir after receiving information regarding the presence of terrorists there, a police officer said.

He claimed that once the terrorists opened fire on the security personnel, who returned fire, the search operation degenerated into an engagement. According to the official, three members of the security forces were hurt during the exchange of fire and later died as a result of their injuries.

'Operation Halan #Kulgam. Security Forces operations were started on August 4 in response to specific information indicating the presence of terrorists in Kulgam's higher reaches of Halan. Three servicemen were injured and later died as a result of exchanging fire with terrorists. The Chinar Corps of the Army, which is stationed in Srinagar, tweeted that search activities were still ongoing.

The official reported that additional help had been dispatched and that the search effort had been stepped up.
