A 15-year-old boy from Kolkata has achieved a Guinness World Record by building the "world's largest playing card structure."
Arnav Daga, the record-holder, spent 41 days crafting four famous Kolkata landmarks using approximately 143,000 playing cards, without the use of tape or glue. His impressive creation featured iconic structures such as the Writers' Building, Shaheed Minar, Salt Lake Stadium, and St. Paul's Cathedral. The final masterpiece measured an astounding 40 feet in length, 11 feet 4 inches in height, and 16 feet 8 inches in width.
Arnav's remarkable achievement surpassed the previous record held by Bryan Berg, whose card structure of three Macao hotels measured 34 feet and 1 inch in length, 9 feet and 5 inches in height, and 11 feet and 7 inches in width. Arnav's dedication to his project was evident as he meticulously studied the architectural details of each site before embarking on his "card-chitecture" adventure.
During the 41-day endeavor, Arnav faced challenges, especially with the Shaheed Minar structure repeatedly collapsing. Nevertheless, he persevered and made necessary adjustments to see his vision through. Balancing his schoolwork with his record-breaking attempts proved to be a tough juggling act, but Arnav remained determined to overcome all obstacles.
Arnav's passion for card stacking began at the age of eight and gained momentum during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, when he had ample free time to hone his skills. Initially, he crafted smaller structures due to limited space in his room, showcasing some of his creations on his YouTube channel, "arnavinnovates." After three years of dedicated practice, he felt confident enough to attempt a world record.
Arnav described the experience as overwhelming, living a dream he had envisioned in 2020. His remarkable accomplishment in building the world's largest playing card structure is a testament to his dedication, creativity, and unwavering determination.
