ISRO develops the Gaganyaan escape system

An indigenously developed system tasked with saving astronauts in the event of an emergency while they are strapped in the spacecraft on the pad or shortly after lift-off will be tested in what is known as a "pad abort test" by Isro. The Crew Escape System (CES) is the name of the system.

The Gaganyaan mission is India's first manned space mission and aims to send three Indian astronauts to space in a low earth orbit. The escape system is a crucial safety feature that can be used to quickly separate the crew module from the rocket in case of an emergency during the launch or ascent phases of the mission.

The escape system consists of a solid rocket motor and a crew module, and it has been successfully tested in 2018 and 2021. The development of the escape system is an important milestone in India's efforts to become a leading space-faring nation, and it will help ensure the safety and success of the Gaganyaan mission.
