IMD issues Red alert in Meghalaya and moderate rainfall in South and West India

Meghalaya is under a red alert today as informed by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) due to the probability of exceptionally heavy downpours reaching 204.4 mm. The weather service has also advised people to stay away from places prone to water logging and weakened structures because the area is expected to experience localized flooding as a result of the rainfall. Additionally, the weather service forecasts moderate rainfall activity in South and West India till August 10.

Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Nagaland, and Manipur all have been given an orange rain alert for today due to heavy to very heavy rains.

Likewise from August 6 to 10, the weather office has forecast intense rainfall for Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
