The Centre of Excellence for Road Safety (COERS), a central government organisation, in collaboration with IIT-Madras will be launching a special project in Haryana. The aim of the project is to bring together the best practices in road safety, develop systems, and provide data-driven advice to all stakeholders and the public, according to reports.
Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal has emphasized the importance of this project in assessing the effectiveness of these interventions for creating safer roads. He added that the state has been selected for this project among seven other states Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Jharkhand for the evaluation of the effectiveness of road safety interventions.
The Chief Secretary, Mr Kaushal, said that the state of Haryana has introduced road safety subjects into school curricula to spread awareness and enhance road safety. Additionally, plans are underway to train a dedicated workforce of young volunteers from the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the National Cadet Corps (NCC).
