Traffic Congestion

Heavy rains caused a traffic chaos in Hyderabad and its suburbs severely affecting the city's transportation networks. Traffic congestion persisted at major junctions in Hyderabad late into the night, along with gridlock on key roads stretching from Ameerpet to Paradise and near Ikea Junction.

Rain flooded the roads, and submerged the streets causing hour long traffic jams. Private vehicle owners found themselves trapped in traffic bottlenecks due to waterlogging and fallen trees.

Central Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and prominent IT hubs like Madhapur and Gachibowli experienced extensive traffic jams, adding to commuters' frustrations.

The IT corridor, spanning from the Raidurgam Biodiversity junction to IKEA, was particularly affected, with vehicles barely moving amidst the standstill.

Power cuts

For residents, power outages remained a serious problem. About a series of power outages caused by strong gales and rain in various areas like Kompally, Miralam, Kothur, Wanaparthy, Shamshabad, Patancheru, Allapur, Banjara Hills, Nalgonda, Himayath Sagar, Siddipet, Beeramguda, Tara Nagar, and Ibrahimpatnam, the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) started tweeting about it in the late evening. They gave their word that restoration work was in progress.

There were concerns about the IPL match scheduled at Uppal Stadium would be impacted by the heavy rain. But everything is happening as per schedule.

Waterlogging and Uprooted Trees

The chaos was exacerbated by trees being uprooted by the heavy rain. Thirteen tree fall incidents were reported by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's (GHMC) Disaster Management wing, and eighteen cases are still being investigated.

17 Road waterlogging complaints were received, and three affected areas were drained. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) sent out emergency teams to clear flooded areas and remove fallen trees.

Principal Secretary (Municipal Administration and Urban Development) Danakishore along with GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose visited various waterlogging points areas and gave instructions to DRF teams on ground in the city.
