   - The Howrah-Mumbai Mail derailed in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district of Jharkhand, resulting in two fatalities and injuries to 20 others. The derailment occurred at approximately 3:45 AM near Barabamboo, about 80 km from Jamshedpur.

   - The train, comprising 22 coaches, saw 18 of them derailing. These included 16 passenger coaches, one power car, and one pantry car. It was not immediately clear if the derailment of a nearby goods train occurred concurrently or contributed to the accident.

   - West Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Kuldeep Chaudhary stated that rescue operations are ongoing, with an NDRF team en route to the site. Medical aid has been provided to the injured, who have been transported to Chakradharpur for further treatment.
   - A relief train has been dispatched to evacuate passengers to the nearby Chakradharpur railway station, and buses are being arranged for additional transportation.
