Haryana: Rail Traffic on Ambala-Delhi route as goods train derails in Karnal district

July 2: In the Karnal district of Haryana, at Taraori station, eight cargo containers fell off after a goods train derailed on Tuesday morning, causing disruptions to rail traffic on the Ambala-Delhi route. Many freight train containers drifted off the tracks close to railway tracks, resulting in delays and disturbances. Between 4 and 4.30 am, the goods train in the Karnal region of Haryana collided with an object close to Taraori.

Even though nobody was hurt, the accident occurred on the busiest stretch at approximately 4.30 am, resulting in the cancellation of at least 12 trains and the diversion of another 27. The cargo train was headed to Delhi from Amritsar.

"Two wheels of the goods train came off, and eight coaches got derailed," stated Dinesh Kumar, an officer with the Haryana Police stationed in Karnal. Officials from the railway departments in Delhi, Ambala, and Karnal were there to determine the reason for the mishap.

According to the Northern Railway, several passenger trains were impacted, including the Amarpali and Unchahar Express. Two long-distance trains were also cancelled at the New Delhi station. At the stations in Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panipat, and Ambala, passengers were left stranded.

Additionally, two coal-laden carriages on a freight train derailed last month close to the Faridabad station in Haryana.
