Gujarat's fake toll plaza swindled thousands for 1.5 years

With Toll Plaza Scams being so common in India, Another Fake Toll Plaza Scam, reportedly from Gujarat has come to light after more than 1.5 years of cheating the government officials, citizens and Police, in short the whole system.

On the Bamanbore-Kutch national highway in Gujarat, a group of individuals were caught by the officials after more than one year for setting up a fake toll plaza by bypassing the highway on private land.

In Gujarat's Morbi, a fraudulent toll Plaza operating on private property deceived citizens, local law enforcement, and high-ranking government officials in the district by charging toll fees at half the standard rate at their counterfeit toll booth. This deceptive scheme persisted for a continuous period of one and a half years.

The toll plaza manager disclosed that private landowners were unlawfully taking thousands of rupees from commuters daily for a year and a half. The accused rerouted traffic, guiding vehicles through the land owned by the closed White House Ceramic Company factory and the Varghasia village, as reported by NDTV.

Officials revealed that these deceptive individuals in the region compelled truck drivers to pay toll fees at their illegitimate toll plaza. Truck drivers were drawn to paying only half the toll tax and thus opting for an alternative route that allowed this illicit toll collection to remain in the dark, unnoticed by the authorities.

Upon receiving reports of vehicles diverted from the designated Vaghasia toll plaza route with unauthorised toll collection, authorities quickly started an investigation.

Morbi district Collector GT Pandya mentioned to reporters , "We received information about vehicles being diverted from the actual route of the Varghasia toll plaza, and toll tax was being collected. The police and other officials reached the spot, investigated the matter, and filed a detailed complaint."

The police filed a comprehensive complaint against Amarshi Patel, the owner of White House Ceramic Company, along with Vanraj Singh Jhala, Harvijay Singh Jhala, Dharmendra Singh Jhala, Yuvraj Singh Jhala, and other unidentified individuals.
