Groom wanted but only from Tier-1 Institute: Bride's demands sparks internet debate

Looking for a good life partner through matrimonial sites has been a common practice since time immemorial.  A user on Twitter shared a profile that he came across on a matrimonial site and soon became a topic of Social Media chatter.

The potential bride has mentioned that she wants the groom to have a certain degree only and also that he must be qualified from a certain set of top 'approved' universities only - to be eligible to apply as her potential match. The degrees specified are MBA, MTech, MS, and PGDM. She has also mentioned that in case the groom has an engineering degree it should be from "Tier-1 colleges that include, IIIT: Bombay, Madra, Kanpur, Delhi, Roorkee, Kharagpur, Guwahati. NIT: Calicut, Delhi, Kurukshetra, Jalandhar, Trichi, Suratkal, Warangal. IIT Hyderabad, Allahabad, Delhi, Bangalore. IISc Bangalore, BITS Pilani, Hyderabad, DTU, NSIT, and Jadavpur University (Calcutta)."  For suitors who have pursued MBA, they should be from, “IIM: Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Lucknow, Kozhikode, FMS, IIFT, ISB, JBIMS, MDI, NITIE, SP Jain, SJMSOM, and XLRI.”

Adding to all these requirements she has also added that the groom should be from the corporate sector and his salary should not be less than 30 Lacs per annum. The profile further added that the height of the groom should be between 5’7” to 6’. And he should have a small but educated family, specifically with 2 siblings.

Bridegroom Indian wedding

As soon as this was posted, it sparked a debate on social media. While some people said that the demands made by the girl were too much, others said that it is okay for her to demand. Another user commented if she was marrying a husband or hiring one. While a lot of people gave their opinions about this some supporting her and some criticising the girl for making so many demands, some also commented that she doesn't want a husband but rather wants a bank.

Well, the debate can go on but we do wonder sometimes what if a similar ad were placed by a man - what would the reactions look like? Not too much guessing there, right?
