A spectacular air show will take place today, Monday, October 23, at 4 p.m. at the torchlight parade field in Banni Mantap stadium. Siddaramaiah, the chief minister of Karnataka, is expected to attend.
According to the police, security has been stepped up for the Dussehra celebrations in Mysuru after the Central Intelligence Department (CIA) indicated that more than 70 suspected terrorists had entered the country using fake passports, according to HT reporting.
To boost security for the Dussehra festive, up to 3,500 police officers have been stationed in Mysuru.
A senior police officer claimed in an interview with Hindustan Times that every Dussehra, about 2,000 police officers are posted to Mysuru.
On Sunday, thousands of spectators saw an air show rehearsal at the Banni Mantap stadium in Mysuru. It will include a variety of fighter jets from the Indian Air Force as well as light aircraft.
On October 15, the popular music director Hamsalekha, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his deputy D K Shivakumar and other members of the cabinet, MP Pratap Simha, and MLAs officially started the Mysuru Dasara festival.
The festival of Mysuru Dasara is known as "Nada Habba" (the state festive). Through this event, Karnataka conveys to its citizens the tradition, culture, language, and level of progress attained by the state.
Goddess Chamundeshwari, the prime deity of Mysuru city and the Mysuru Wodeyar royal line, is worshipped during the Dasara celebrations. The occasion celebrates Goddess Chamundeshwari's triumph against the demon king Mahishasura.
