Government to bring in new surveillance method to replace Pegasus -Budget of Rs. 12000 crores assigned

The Government of India is searching for new spyware such as Pegasus. Pegasus has been placed on a US government blacklist and is also the subject of spyware disputes in India. The government has been considering deals with software firms that compete with Pegasus. These surveillance companies are getting ready to submit bids to the Indian government. The government is said to be willing to spend up to $120 million (Rs 986 crore) on a new spyware contract, and around 12 companies could bid for it.

Sources aware of the matter said that the Indian government is considering purchasing the spyware produced by the Greek company Intellexa. The company has prepared a spyware called Predator with the assistance of former Israeli military officers. Facebook and Citizen Lab claim that Predator is operational in several nations where human rights abuses are taking place. Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Madagascar, and Oman are among these nations.

Additionally, it has come to light that Indian authorities are interested in several spyware products, most of which are manufactured by Israeli companies. Israel is home to the most cutting-edge spyware manufacturers, many of which collaborate with the Israeli military to produce spyware.
