Severe waterlogging and swelling waters from the Gomti River have disrupted daily life across Lucknow, turning major residential roads into navigable waterways. In low-lying settlements such as Faizullaganj, Daud Nagar, and Mama Colony, floodwaters have breached ground-floor homes, leaving stranded locals no choice but to rely on wooden boats to evacuate and commute.
While many families have been relocated to emergency relief camps by local authorities, several residents remain reluctant to abandon homes built through years of hard labour. Taking note of the worsening urban flooding, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted aerial inspections of Faizullaganj and Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) before directly interacting with displaced families.
The Uttar Pradesh government has subsequently proposed a comprehensive embankment extending from Faizullaganj towards Naimisharanya as a long-term mitigation strategy. However, for hundreds of struggling families in the state capital, immediate safety, livelihood security, and flood resilience remain the most pressing questions.
