Forget 100 and 108: Telangana Launches '112' as Single Emergency Helpline Number

One Number for All Emergencies: Telangana Officially Launches Dial 112

Remembering multiple emergency numbers like 100 for police, 108 for an ambulance, or 181 for women's safety can be difficult during a panicked crisis. To make emergency assistance quicker, simpler, and more efficient, the Telangana state government has officially launched 112 as a single, unified emergency helpline number.

Key Highlights of Dial 112 in Telangana:

  • Unified Helpline: Modeled heavily on the 911 emergency system in the United States, Dial 112 integrates multiple emergency services—including police, fire, ambulance, and disaster relief—through a single national helpline number.

  • Advanced Technology: The Dial 112 Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) was formally launched at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC). It utilizes artificial intelligence and advanced automation to cut down response times and deliver faster assistance.

  • Accurate Location Tracking: A major advantage of this new technology-driven platform is its advanced location-tracking capability, which offers up to 95% accuracy in pinpointing a distress caller's location.

  • Faster Dispatch: To ensure a rapid ground response, 1,860 patrol vehicles have been digitally integrated with the platform across Telangana, significantly reducing call processing and dispatch delays.

The launch of Dial 112 marks the end of the previous Dial 100 system in the state, streamlining the entire emergency process under one umbrella.
