A 10-year-old student was beaten up by a teacher from a government school in the Gadag district of karnataka and thrown from the first floor of the building in a horrifying incident. The Standard 4 student passed away on the way to the hospital.
The incident happened on Monday morning, at a public school in the Hadli village of the Naragund taluk. The deceased boy was identified as Bharat Barker, while the accused teacher Muttappa Hadagali alias Kuri, is a 38-year-old man who has been missing since the crime.
Muttappa beat two teachers at the school, including Bharat's mother Geeta Barker, in addition to killing the boy. The teachers who were beaten are receiving care at the Hubballi, KIMS hospital. According to the doctors, Geeta's condition is critical and she is in shock. SC Patil, a different teacher who suffered head injuries, is making a full recovery.
Personal rivalry was suggested as the cause of the strange incident by the police and the villagers.
A teacher at the school reported that the students were happy to be back at school on Monday morning after returning from a trip to Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh two days prior.
Students in the class that Muttappa was instructing were talking about their trip when he allegedly shut the door and began beating Bharat. In response to Bharat's cries, Gita, who was the teacher of the subsequent class, sprang into action. The student's mother and two other people reportedly tried to stop the beating, but Kuri persisted, according to the police. In a fit of rage, the teacher is accused of striking the boy's mother and a few other people with a shovel, seriously injuring them.
Bharat and Gita were transported to the Naragund taluk hospital by the school staff after they requested an ambulance. However, medical professionals recommended that the two be transferred to Hubballi's Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS). Bharat was pronounced dead at KIMS.
"We went toward the class after hearing Bharat and Gita screaming. The mother and son were being struck by Muttappa, who was furious”, stated a teacher. Shivaprakash Devaraju, the superintendent of police in Gadag, stated, "According to an initial investigation, the boy was attacked by Muttappa, a guest teacher, and the latter died.
