Expect power cuts as rising heat increases electricity consumption

As the temperature rises, electricity consumption is expected to increase. People tend to use more air conditioners and other cooling appliances during the hot summers. This can lead to power cuts, due to insufficient capacity, especially in areas where electricity grids are already strained. Power cuts can be inconvenient and disruptive, as they can disturb businesses and other activities.

Gurgaon is to face a deficit in electricity supply because of high electricity demands. This problem might prevail more because of fewer coal plants and Adani Power turning off supply rates.

The Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC) has faced a high demand of 13,000 MW in 2023-24. The Grid Controller of India Limited (Grid-India), is also expecting a steep rise in electricity from April to May in the country.

Therefore, HPPC is trying to meet power requirements through various alternative mediums.
