A paramilitary soldier was killed in action while a terrorist was eliminated during an encounter after a village in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua came under attack late last night.

Two encounters that began overnight in Jammu have dragged into the morning. This also includes one in Doda, where five soldiers and a special police officer (SPO) were injured during the initial shootout.
Anand Jain, ADGP Jammu zone supervising the Kathua ops, shared details earlier this morning. On Doda, he said terrorists opened fire at an army base in Chattargala late at night.

The police said two terrorists were involved in the Kathua attack, and one has been killed. Security forces are using drones to hunt for the second one in Hiranagar. The terrorists had asked for water from houses, raising suspicions, and opened fire when villagers raised an alarm. One civilian was injured, Mr Jain clarified, denying reports of three deaths.

ADGP Jain called the Kathua attack a "fresh infiltration" implicating Pakistan's role without naming it directly. Jammu has seen attacks in areas known to be free of terrorism.
