North India continues to endure a harsh cold wave as the region experiences snowfall, rain, and dense fog. Delhi has witnessed a drop in its minimum temperature after two days of rainfall and fog, while the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for extreme cold and dense fog in parts of North-West and Central India. These conditions are expected to persist and worsen in the coming days.
Cold Wave and Dense Fog Across North India
The IMD has predicted that regions such as Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir will face severe cold waves from December 30 to January 1. Temperatures in these areas are expected to be 3 to 5 degrees Celsius below normal. The cold conditions are set to coincide with New Year's Day, intensifying the chill. Additionally, dense to very dense fog is likely to persist from December 30 to January 4, further complicating travel and daily activities.
Snowfall Disrupts Life in the Mountains
The mountainous regions of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are still facing snowfall. Heavy rains during the last two days have further caused inconvenience to the normal life there. Due to road blockade caused by heavy snowfall, many residents and tourists were left stranded. The rescue operations are still in process. On December 28, the Jammu highway was shut down for a day and has now been resumed.

Till today, the minimum temperature in Delhi was reported at 12°C at 8:00 am. It is going to be clear with fog in parts. The minimum temperature for the day is 11.05°C and a maximum of 21.07°C. The relative humidity is at 35%, and the winds are blowing at 35 km/h.
Tomorrow's Weather Forecast
On December 31, Delhi may experience slightly higher temperatures due to this system- min 13.66°C and maximum at 21.52°C on the above date. The cold wave and foggy conditions may also continue in the region throughout this period, which may keep the chill going.
