In a significant move towards enhancing digital governance, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has launched the Civil Registration System (CRS) mobile app. Developed by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India, this initiative aims to streamline the process of birth and death registrations across the country.
A Step Forward in Digital India
Aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a Digital India, the CRS app is designed to simplify registrations, making them quicker and more accessible. It offers support in various regional languages, ensuring that all citizens can utilize its features effectively.
Streamlined Registration Process
The CRS app allows users to register births and deaths anytime, anywhere, contributing to a more efficient system. By digitising legacy records, it aims to create a paperless environment, significantly reducing the time required for registration while also alleviating the financial burden on state governments related to the app's maintenance.
Amit Shah highlighted the initiative on X, stating, “Under PM Shri @narendramodi Ji’s Digital India vision to integrate technology with governance, launched the Civil Registration System mobile application.” He also shared a video tutorial demonstrating the app’s functionalities.
