Centre Declares Lebanon-Based Hizb-ut-Tahrir a Terrorist Organisation Amid West Asia Conflict

Indian government officially declared the global pan-Islamic organization, Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT), as a terrorist group. HuT was formed in 1953 in Jerusalem and is accused of encouraging terrorism and transforming the youth into its terrorist. The government declared the group a terrorist organization under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, based on the background of involvement of the group in terrorism and threat to the national security and democratic structure of India as stated by Ministry of Home Affairs.

A Global Threat HuT is operational in more than 30 countries, from the United States and Canada to Australia and even in the United Kingdom. Despite being banned in various countries, like Germany, Egypt, UK, and several of Central Asian and Arab countries for their actions, the outfit still manages to aggressively promote its radical agenda. The Ministry of Home Affairs disclosed that HuT has been radicalizing young minds using various means. It has used social media sites and secure messaging applications in addition to Dawah meetings.

Besides this the organization also raises funds for terror activities. which directs a threat to India's internal security and the nation's democratic structure. Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a tweet said, The Indian government has a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. "The Modi government remains committed to securing Bharat by dealing with terror forces with an iron fist."

The National Investigation Agency nabbed a key operative relating to the Tamil Nadu HuT case that accused Islamic organization Hizb-ut-Tahrir of spreading threat to the national security. The NIA probe found that this group is seeking military aid from Pakistan to overthrow the Indian government in  Kashmir. HuT has a long history of praising and celebrating attacks against Israel and Jews. The organization’s headquarters in Lebanon directs its activities in multiple countries, and it continues to engage in radicalizing individuals and promoting anti-democratic agendas.
