In a tragic incident on Wednesday, two young men lost their lives and a woman sustained injuries after being struck by an escort vehicle allegedly part of the convoy of BJP candidate Karan Bhushan Singh in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district, according to the police.
Who is Karan Singh?
Karan Singh is the son of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the current MP of Kaiserganj and a former chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). The BJP has nominated Karan Bhushan Singh as its candidate for the Lok Sabha seat from Kaiserganj.
Last year, Karan's father, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, faced serious allegations of sexually harassing multiple female wrestlers during his tenure as WFI chief. These allegations led to criminal charges and his resignation from the post.
A Delhi court has charged Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage modesty) and 354A (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code based on complaints from five individuals. The legal proceedings against him are ongoing.
