Bihar Floods: Relief Is Reaching People, But Is There a Long-Term Solution? 🌊🚨

Is this a boat or a moving transport vehicle? People are travelling with their belongings, but the lack of visible safety arrangements raises serious concerns.

These visuals from the Bihar floods represent the struggles of lakhs of people who have been affected for days.

According to government data, 15 districts, 88 blocks, 2,642 villages and around 50 lakh people have been affected. Nearly 55,000 hectares of land and 36 urban wards across 21 cities have also been impacted.

At least 20 deaths have reportedly been recorded across different districts so far. Rising water levels and river erosion along the Kosi and Ganga have damaged homes, leaving many families displaced and living under tarpaulins.

Relief operations are underway, with 21 NDRF and SDRF teams, more than 1,200 community kitchens, and DBT assistance of ₹7,000 reportedly provided to 8,27,472 families.

But this raises a bigger question:

Will Bihar continue to rebuild and provide relief every year, or can a long-term solution reduce the recurring impact of floods?
