In a tragic incident in Tamil Nadu’s Virudhunagar district, six workers lost their lives in an explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Appaiyanaickenpatti, Sattur, on Saturday morning. The blast occurred while chemicals were being mixed for firecracker production, reportedly triggered by friction during the process. The explosion also caused three working sheds within the unit to collapse.
The factory, identified as Sainath Fireworks, is situated in Appaiyanaickenpatti village in Sattur taluk. The intensity of the blast has raised concerns about safety protocols and adherence to regulations in such high-risk industries.
Fire and rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene and are currently working to extinguish the fire. Efforts are underway to clear the debris and search for any workers who might still be trapped beneath the rubble. The incident underscores the need for stringent safety measures in the fireworks manufacturing sector, which has seen similar tragedies in the past.
