In an unbelievable case of wedding fraud, 42 grooms arrived at a club ground in Dewas, fully dressed in sherwanis and accompanied by bands, only to find the mandap empty.

The grooms had been promised brides by a man from Vidisha, who claimed to facilitate marriages for a fee ranging between ₹15,000 and ₹25,000.

To gain their trust, the conman even shared photos of the "prospective brides" via mobile.

After waiting all day, the realization dawned on the grooms that they had been cheated of their hard-earned money, some of whom had even taken loans for this marriage.

The scene at the club ground quickly turned into a site of outrage and chaos.

The BMP police have registered a case and launched a search for the accused.
