250 Students of Mengaon Kanya Shiksha Parisar Stage 10 KM Foot March to Khargone Collectorate Over Warden's Suspension

Massive Protest in Khargone: 250 Female Students Walk 10 KM to Meet District Collector

In an extraordinary display of student activism in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, approximately 250 female students from the government-run Kanya Shiksha Parisar Hostel in Mengaon took to the streets. The students marched on foot for nearly 10 kilometers all the way to the District Collectorate to protest against administrative action taken against their hostel superintendent.

Key Highlights of the Protest:

  • The Core Demand: The protesting students alleged that their hostel superintendent (warden) was unjustly suspended from her duties. They marched to demand an immediate re-investigation into the charges and sought clear answers from higher authorities regarding the action taken.

  • Adamant Stand: Along the route, several local administrative and police officials intercepted the march and attempted to pacify the girls, urging them to return to their classrooms and dormitories. However, the students refused to back down and remained firm on their demand to meet Officer-in-Charge Collector Rekha Rathore directly.

  • Official Stance: Addressing the situation, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) clarified that the hostel superintendent had been suspended following allegations of financial irregularities.

  • Resolution: After reaching the Collectorate premises under police protection, the students formally submitted a written memorandum detailing their grievances. Officials assured them that their concerns would be looked into, after which arrangements were made to transport the students safely back to their hostel.

The incident has sparked widespread discussions across the region regarding administrative transparency and the welfare of students residing in government educational facilities.
