24 dead including 12 infants in Nanded Hospital,Maharashtra; Ekant Shinde Government criticised

Opposition leaders, such as Sharad Pawar and Rahul Gandhi, have expressed their concerns regarding the Eknath Shinde administration due to the unfortunate incident of 24 fatalities within a 24-hour period at a government hospital in Nanded, Maharashtra. Priyanka Chaturvedi has described this event as a result of severe negligence, which can be seen as a form of involuntary manslaughter.

There have been reports of 24 deaths, including around twelve infants, at the Shankarao Chavan Government Medical College and Hospital in Nanded. In response, a dedicated committee comprising of three members has been formed to thoroughly examine the incident. Sharad Pawar from the Nationalist Congress Party has emphasized the significance of this tragic event as evidence of a systemic failure within the government and has urged for a determined and efficient response to guarantee the safety of patients in the future.

Pawar politely shared his astonishment through social media, emphasizing the seriousness of the incident. Additionally, he highlighted a previous occurrence in Kalwa Hospital of Thane Municipal Corporation, where unfortunately 18 individuals lost their lives just two months ago. The NCP has respectfully urged the Shinde government to promptly implement effective measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents and to prioritize the well-being of innocent patients. He expressed his concerns about the BJP government's allocation of significant funds for publicity, implying that they may have overlooked the provision of essential medicines for children. This insinuation suggests a potential devaluation of the lives of the less privileged in the BJP's perspective.

Priyanka Gandhi, representing the Congress Party, kindly urged for strict action to be taken against those accountable for the incident and requested that compensation be extended to the families affected. The party as a whole sincerely conveyed its condolences and highlighted the seriousness of the matter.

Former chief minister Ashok Chavan from the Congress Party kindly requested for prompt arrangements to be made for medical staff and funds for the Nanded GMCH. He emphasized the discrepancy between the hospital's capacity and its current patient load.

According to Dr. SR Wakode, the esteemed Dean of Dr. Shankarrao Chavan Government Medical College and Hospital, it has been observed that the unfortunate infants who passed away belonged to the age group of 0-3 days and had extremely low birth weights. The statement provided by the collectorate elaborated on the various medical conditions they were facing.
