12 dead, 23 injured as a mini-bus hits container on Maharashtra's Samruddhi Expressway

A tragic incident occurred on Sunday during the early hours on the Samruddhi Expressway in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, formerly known as Aurangabad. A speeding mini-bus collided with a container, resulting in 12 fatalities and 23 individuals sustaining injuries, according to local authorities.

The private bus was carrying 35 passengers at the time of the accident, which happened around 12:30 a.m. in the Vaijapur area of the district, approximately 350 kilometres from Mumbai.

The driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle, leading to a collision with the container from the rear. Among the 12 individuals who tragically lost their lives, there were five men, six women, and a minor girl.

The injured passengers, numbering 23, were promptly transported to a government hospital for medical treatment.
