Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, upon his return from the AI Safety Summit in the UK, used his official 'X' handle to post an image of discarded water bottles and partially eaten food on the floor inside a Vistara aircraft. He conveyed his dissatisfaction with Vistara Airlines regarding the cleanliness and service during a flight from London to Delhi.
In the caption accompanying the shared image, the minister praised the new and clean 787 aircraft and the smooth flight experience. However, he expressed his sadness about the service and the state of the cabin, highlighting that the quality of food and the presence of litter were not ideal for welcoming visitors to India or competing with other international carriers.
Since the image was uploaded, it has gone viral, garnering thousands of views and numerous responses. Chandrasekhar's comments have sparked an online discussion, with numerous individuals voicing similar concerns.
In response to a comment on his Friday post, the minister stated on Saturday that achieving global standards in the airline industry demands a profound cultural and attitude transformation. The minister conveyed his hope that both Air India and Vistara, supported by the prestigious brands Taj Hotels and Singapore Airlines, can develop into global brands. He expressed confidence in Tata Companies, known for their success in other ventures like Taj, being capable of releasing this transformation.
In response to the minister's post on X, Vistara, a joint venture of Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, expressed regret and considered the incident as isolated. Their reply in the thread stated, "We understand that on this occasion, we did not adhere to our standard cleaning procedures. We appreciate your understanding, and we view this as an isolated incident.
