‘Wow’-Talking his way through the Entertainment Industry – Ritesh Kant

Ritesh Kant’s credentials pretty much speak volumes about his experience and knowledge. With a Master's in Business Administration and more than a couple of decades of experience working across the globe, he had seen it all. He had worked for companies large and small and had been in the startup environment for the last 5 years. But Ritesh was not satisfied. He wanted to do something of his own. He wanted to build something from scratch.

And that's when wowTalkies was born. The company brought fans together on their favorite celebrities and movie properties, using web3.0. Ritesh had a team of 7, including 3 co-founders, and they provided products and services for companies across the globe. The team was young and enthusiastic, and they had a fun time working together.

Ritesh had always been motivated to start his own venture. He had worked with small businesses and taken them to a larger scale. He had experience working with investors and stakeholders and wanted to understand the entire ecosystem. He had joined a startup as a CEO to understand how the startup environment worked, and that's what motivated him to do something of his own.

Being a founder is not easy. There's a lot more you want to achieve every day, but time is a factor. The basic advantages and pleasures are also a drawback. You want to move faster, but time constrains you. However, Ritesh had the support of his family. His wife was also an entrepreneur, and they understood each other's work. They kept out of each other's way, and they knew that embarking on a certain journey was impossible without their family's support.

Ritesh had been told a few things before starting out. He had to have knowledge of how the investment works and the basic tiers of the investor ecosystem. He was great at reaching out to people, but during his startup, it took time for him to understand and learn. For each category of the investing partner, the approach needs to be different, and he needed some preparation to get into the psyche of the investor before pitching to him.

Ritesh had a few things he would like to tell someone who is planning a startup. He said, "build a startup for something that you love because that will keep you going. Believe in it, and have a plan for the starting months as to how you're going to do it. You'll face different challenges every day, but there has to be a method to the madness, and that is to plan broadly in advance."

When asked about skills somebody planning for a startup should know, Ritesh emphasized on personality traits instead of skills. He said, "you should be open to learning new things, have great confidence in what you're doing, have a long-term attitude, build new things from a long-term perspective, and stay motivated."

Ritesh described himself in three words as a founder - confident, open, and long-term. And for him, wowTalkies was not just a brand, but a part of his soul. He had conceptualized it from people, and therefore, it was like a member of the family. Ritesh's journey as a founder had been challenging, but he had never given up. He had been confident, open, and long-term, and that's what made him successful.
