Interning at 17, Founder at 21: That’s the story of Dishi Gala

She doesn’t look it with the whole businesswoman appeal around her – but she is all of 21! Perhaps representative of a generation that is young, energetic and raring to go.

She started off at the tender age of 17 - as an intern at IIMUN as the Secretariat Member of the Championship Department. Having worked there for 5 months, her knowledge of the practical on-ground side of things became sharpened and she developed the confidence to step out of her own comfort zone and interact actively with those who could make the change – including senior professors and even the principal of her school.

That’s where the idea of Whruts came up!! Having found ample support from her family, Dishi along with her sister Drashti founded Whruts to give this newfound thought an able business direction. They always wanted to create something of their own and come from a family of entrepreneurs, business owners and investors – this perhaps was in their genes too.

Her venture Whruts helps writers get published professionally in 193 Countries in the world. They also help solopreneurs, small business owners, and startups reach out to more people organically or through paid marketing by producing high-engaging content and SEO blog. They help them leverage the power of content and make it their asset to attract clients and flowing leads.

She currently leads a team of 25 members and is based out of the Nation’s financial capital - Mumbai. Her funda with her team is simple - Teamwork is extremely important. It may be one thing to deliver your best as one individual but having people work for different departments in sync to deliver value for the organization as a whole is an everyday endeavour. Because Dishi firmly believes that when the team is in sync, everything around falls in place – clients, deliverables, and growth.

Reading has given her the power to constantly keep thinking and innovating – it has helped her develop her problem-solving skills.. one inherent quality of an entrepreneur.. and in turn, grow as a person as well as a Founder. She gives us an anecdote about how reading Never Lose a Customer Again by Joey Coleman was the very moment that the seed for Whruts was sown into her mind.

Dishi believes Business is simple – people make it tough by sitting on problems and letting them unnecessarily grow rather than taking problems head-on and solving them. It is tough being a Founder, but it sure has its fun moments. Waking up every day to see her clients giving those cherished satisfied reviews, happy with the work that has been delivered to them after a complete project, meeting new clients, understanding their pain points, brainstorming sessions with her team to come up with solutions tailor-made for their clients – there is so much to do and she loves every bit of it.

Dishi has not given up on education even while she is on her entrepreneurial journey – she is studying online, doing a diploma course on entrepreneurship and business management. And as a matter of interest and the wish to keep propelling herself forward – she is also studying Mandarin - Level 4 at the India China Academy.

Who is to say she doesn’t miss her social activities and going out with friends as she clocks in almost 12 hours of work every day, sometimes even on Sundays? She does let her hair down occasionally though when after a power-packed day of work she decides to unwind while going out clubbing or shopping. She doesn’t complain though – she decided this for herself and her success with her decision has made it all worthwhile.

Ask her what she wishes someone had told her before she started out, and she gives out a solid bullet-pointed list:

  1. Ask for it - Reach out to as many people as possible and ask for it. Don’t wait for things and people and clients and employees and orders to come to you. Nothing does. Reach out and ask them for it.
  2. Follow up Maintain a strong bond with clients and future prospects and keep following up. It will happen someday.
  3. Positive vibes only - Cut off negative people immediately. They don’t do any good to anyone, especially not to you as a Founder.
  4. Hire Well – It is important to hire a team thoughtfully and also weed out the ones that don’t fit in sooner. It keeps the team’s harmony intact.
  5. Just start – There’s never a perfect day for it. It doesn't matter if you get the desired results, put in the work, and you'll achieve your goals.

Dishi is a firm believer in one thing - Every day there are things that are successful and there are things that aren't. You have to model the best people in your industry and build your brand around customers. Growing and becoming better every day at what you do is the way a Founder grows herself and leads her team to success.

Entrepreneurship is a process. It doesn’t happen in one day.
