Adipt Kedia was born and brought up in the bustling city of Mumbai. He completed his bachelors in Financial Management from Somaiya University and landed a job as an investment banker at JP Morgan, where he had all his stuff planned up. But little did he know that a chance conversation with a friend would change the course of his life.
Adipt had always been fascinated by architecture and interior design. One day, he went to meet his architect friend to discuss the friend's investment plans. It was during this conversation that Adipt realised that there was a huge unorganised sector in the market that he could work on. The idea of starting his own business had always been at the back of his mind, and this conversation acted as a catalyst to take the leap of faith.
Adipt decided to quit his job and pursue his dream of starting a business that would cater to architects and interior designers. He started Evolve Spaces, a startup that was all about design and materials that they supplied to architects and interior designers. Initially, Adipt had only two members, who were part-time interns. However, with hard work and dedication, the team has now grown to 14 members.
Today, Evolve Spaces has clients from all over India. They supply multiplexes, theaters, and hotels with their exceptional products and services. Adipt is emotionally attached to Evolve Spaces, which he considers his baby. He had the idea while working at JP Morgan and wrote about it in his final note to his manager before leaving. He is proud of what he has accomplished so far, and every decision that he makes and every work that he does is bearing fruit.
Adipt's entire team sits together and decides on every small aspect of the business, from whom to send what to how to create better supply chains, and how to invest more in technology. They see a huge gap in the industry and believe that they can work on it to make a significant impact.
Adipt's father was also in the same industry, so he understood and supported him right from the start. Adipt's mother is a poet and has helped him a lot with content writing. She has helped him enthrall architects into his startup. Adipt feels lucky to have supportive parents who have played a vital role in his life.
Evolve Spaces is based in Mumbai, and Adipt has realized that prioritizing is essential. Every order is taken seriously, and it needs to be delivered on time. They have kept the decision-making process simple and straightforward.
For Adipt, ownership is the most important thing. He feels that accountability for one's actions and work is crucial. He loves his Mondays now as he looks forward to going to work. He enjoys going to the office and building something new. Earlier, he was forced to go to the office, but now he has to force people to come to work.
Adipt's background in investment banking and his creative side are not connected in any way. But every time he mentions his background to clients, they start expecting more from him. He has left such a big industry, so he must have something to offer. His advice to anyone starting their own business is to focus on what they are doing right now and enjoy the process. If they have an idea, every minute should be spent on making it bigger. Adipt's journey from a successful investment banker to a successful entrepreneur has been one of determination, hard work, and perseverance.
