A restaurant in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu was attacked allegedly by al Shabaab militants which took the life of 9 civilians, including 3 armed soldiers, on Friday 09.06.2023.
Pearl restaurant is one of the most sought-after restaurants of the locals in Mogadishu. A militant attack in this well-known place has undoubtedly instilled simmering anxiety and fear among civilians. An ambulance driver who was in action at the site of the attack has said that he and his team carried nearly 20 civilians to give life support, due to severe injuries they sustained. The security forces of Mogadishu immediately reached the site and rescued 84 civilians. Although the police forces of the locals are on a full-fledged search of the attackers, the motive of this unforeseen attack is still unclear.
A tweet from the Somalia National News Agency said that “ security forces have successfully neutralized the al Shabaab militants responsible for the terrorist attack on the Pearl Beach Hotel in Lido Beach, Mogadishu"
