India's top 25 celebrities, a mix of Bollywood stars and sportspersons, amassed an estimated $1.9 billion in brand value in 2023. This marks a 15.5% year-on-year growth, highlighting the strong market demand for celebrity endorsements. Here’s a look at the top five celebrities leading the charge.
Virat Kohli
Cricketer Virat Kohli stands at the pinnacle with a remarkable rebound in brand value. His brand worth soared to $227.9 million in 2023, up from $176.9 million in 2022, a notable 28.9% increase. Although this is still shy of his pre-pandemic high of $237 million, Kohli’s portfolio is impressive, encompassing over 40 brands. His latest endorsement includes signing as the brand influencer for HSBC India.
Ranveer Singh
Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has seen consistent growth in his brand value over the past four years. In 2023, his brand value reached $203.1 million, nearly doubling from $102.9 million in 2020. Despite slipping one rank, Singh surpassed the $200 million mark for the first time. His portfolio includes 50 brands such as Tiffany & Co. and Zomato during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Singh also ventured into investments, becoming a key stakeholder in boAt.
Shah Rukh Khan
Veteran actor Shah Rukh Khan experienced the highest growth rate among his peers. His brand value skyrocketed to $120.7 million in 2023 from $51.1 million in 2020, a staggering 116.6% increase. Khan’s resurgence underscores his enduring appeal and marketability in the Indian entertainment industry.

Despite a decline, actor Akshay Kumar remains a significant figure with a brand value of $111.7 million in 2023. This represents a drop of over 23%, yet 60% of his endorsement portfolio has remained stable since 2020. Kumar continues to be a prominent face for brands like Harpic and has recently launched his athleisure brand Force IX.
Alia Bhatt
Alia Bhatt has seen substantial growth, with her brand value increasing by 110.6% over three years. She maintains a similar valuation to the previous year, cementing her status as a top brand endorser. Bhatt’s endorsements include luxury brands, and she made history by becoming Gucci’s first Indian global ambassador.

India's media and entertainment sector saw an 11.4% growth in 2023, reaching $28 billion, driven by digital media, online gaming, and animation. The sector is projected to reach $34 billion by 2025, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.5% from 2022 to 2025.
