The much-anticipated trailer of Stree 2 is finally out, promising a thrilling continuation from where the first film in the horror-comedy franchise left off in 2018. The trailer reveals that the town of Chanderi is once again under supernatural threat, but this time it's not the spirit of 'Stree' causing the terror. The residents, including Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aparshakti Khurana, unite to battle a new monster named 'Sarkata', a headless entity introduced by Pankaj Tripathi's character, Rudra Bhaiya.
Chills and Chuckles: The Perfect Blend
The trailer brilliantly balances horror and comedy, showcasing terrifying glimpses of the headless 'Sarkata' while delivering hilarious one-liners that are sure to entertain. One standout moment features Rudra Bhaiya humorously describing 'Sarkata' as an influencer aiming to increase his followers in Chanderi. Shraddha Kapoor's character, who was the evil spirit in the prequel, returns to help the townspeople, with a twist in the narrative as the residents now pray to Stree for protection.
Return of Beloved Characters
Stree 2 brings back fan-favorite characters, with Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor reprising their roles from the first film. The original Stree, a massive box office hit in 2018, ended on a cliffhanger, with Shraddha's character seen merging the ponytail of the evil spirit with her own. The plot, inspired by the urban legend 'Nale Ba' from Karnataka, captivated audiences with its unique blend of horror and humor.
Abhishek Banerjee, returning as Jana, expressed his excitement about reprising his role, stating that the character holds a special bond with audiences, especially children. Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Stree 2 is set to release on Independence Day, August 15, and will face stiff competition at the box office from Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein.
