All is not well with Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma (TMKOC). The longest-running Indian daily sitcom TMKOC is in news for all the wrong reasons. Many loved characters have quit or discontinued without any intention of returning to the show. One of them was the character of Garba Queen “Daya Ben” aka actor Disha Vakani. Disha took a break from the show, and her popular character of Dayaben, in 2017 when she welcomed her first child- her daughter Stuti Padia.
Ever since, Disha has not shot an episode for the show despite several instances of her comeback being announced. But recently, there was a rumour about her that worried TMKOC fans sick about their favourite character. It was said that Disha was suffering from throat cancer and the reason quoted was her uncanny voice given to Daya Ben’s character. Now Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashmah has a serious fan following. There are so many influencers as well as actors who have shown immense love and respect for all the actors of TMKOC as they have kept their audiences entertained for decades now. This news undoubtedly spread like wildfire and had the producers going into overdrive rubbishing such unhinged gossip.
TMKOC director Malav Rajda took to his Instagram to put an end to these rumours. Malav shared a screenshot and wrote, “ Like Jethalal says...NONSENSE... News reporting is such a responsible job...it really amazes me how at times it's so irresponsibly done...yaar such big news atleast cross check once...it can affect so many ppl and WHY WHY WHY to print any news till you are sure about it...so to all her fans this is completely FALSE.”
Meanwhile, Dilip Joshi who portrays the character of Dayaben's husband Jethalal shared his disappointment in an interview as well. Joshi bashed the rumours saying, "I am getting continuous calls since morning. Every now and then, some weird news comes. I think there is no need to promote it. All I would say is that it is all a rumour. Don't pay any attention to them."
While Disha continues to maintain silence on the news, her brother Mayur Vakani has also stepped in to dispel the fake rumours, saying, “Bohot galat news hai. Aisa kuch nahi hai. Sab thik hai. It’s just a rumour.”
Actor Disha Vakani has portrayed Daya Ben’s character with so much love and dedication that it is very difficult for producer Asit Kumar Modi and the TMKOC team to replace her with another actor. Daya Ben’s character is missing for the last five years and still, everyone is hoping for a miracle which will bring Disha back on the show. But until then, we wish her great health and super parenting.
