Details on Elizabeth Taylor's documentary series

For too long, Elizabeth Taylor's story has been portrayed as a mere soap opera, with a focus on her eight marriages, diamonds, and addictions. This series aims to give her the recognition she deserves in all of her roles as an actor, rebel, business mogul, and activist. It will reveal how Taylor influenced modern celebrity and delve deeply into her skills and techniques as an actor, not only as a captivating performer but also as someone who changed the dynamics between audiences and celebrities. The series will highlight how Taylor shattered Hollywood's glass ceiling, reinvented the nature of fame, and ultimately became a billionaire businesswoman, activist, and advocate.

Kim Kardashian, Executive Producer says: "Elizabeth Taylor was unapologetically herself, a fighter. She is proof that you can keep evolving and changing and have different chapters in your life - and she paved the way for all of us who came after her with that blueprint.” " as quoted in BBC.

The series is based on previously unreleased audio tapes, interviews, and never-before-seen television footage, as well as an extensive archive of Elizabeth Taylor's films. The series will also include interviews with several high-profile celebrities who knew Taylor personally, such as Kim Kardashian, who conducted the last interview with her before she passed away, Dame Joan Collins, a friend and fellow Hollywood star who competed with Elizabeth for the role of Cleopatra, Margaret O’Brien, who attended school with her on the MGM backlot, close friend Carole Bayer Sager, leading scientist Dr. Anthony Fauci, who worked alongside Elizabeth in the battle against AIDS, and others. Each of them has a unique perspective on a different aspect of Taylor's life story.

This definitive three-part series will reveal the life and times of a superstar who transformed not only Hollywood but also fame, rising from child star to the world's highest-paid actress. Each episode will look at how she broke down barriers in all aspects of her life - and the price she paid for defying convention. Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar (w/t) is in production and will be broadcast on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
