Where is the Bandipur Tiger Reserve?

One of India's most stunning and effectively managed national parks is Bandipur National Park. It is situated on the Mysore-Ooty highway in Karnataka, with magnificent surroundings of the towering Western Ghats. Bandipur National Park spans an area of 872.24 square kilometers. It is a significant component of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, which also includes Kerala's Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary to the southwest, Tamil Nadu's Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary to the south, and Karnataka's Rajiv Gandhi National Park (Nagarahole) to the northwest.

It is split between the Chamarajanagar District's Gundlupet Taluk and the Mysuru District's H.D.Kote and Nanjangud Taluks.

Bandipur, located at the foothills of the Nilgiris and formerly the exclusive hunting grounds of the former Maharajas, has a long history of encounters with tigers. But today it's one of the thirty protected areas spread out around the nation to protect the tigers and their environment.
