The National Board of Examinations, which organizes the National Eligibility and Entrance Test - Postgraduate (NEET PG), has decided to reduce the exam fee for NEET PG 2024 by Rs 750 per candidate. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) announced this reduction in a letter to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, and it will take effect on January 1, 2024. This move is intended to make medical education more affordable and accessible, benefiting all candidates and reducing financial burden. According to Dr Abhijat Sheth, President of NBEMS, candidates who apply for the upcoming examination after January 1, 2024, will benefit from a reduced fee.
Current fees for all the categories
In 2013, the application fee for the General and OBC categories was Rs 3,750. Since then, the fee has gradually increased and reached Rs 4,250 in 2021. However, as per a PTI report, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has taken a proactive step to reduce the fee to Rs 3,500, effective from January 1, 2024.
Any candidate applying for the upcoming NEET PG examination will be required to pay the reduced fee. The new fee structure is lower than the application fee charged in 2013.
Similarly, in 2013, the application fee for SC, ST, and PWD candidates was Rs 2.750. The fee was raised to Rs 3,250 in 2021, according to the report. To help candidates in these categories, the NBEMS has reduced the fee to Rs 2,500, effective January 1, 2024, according to PTI.
Candidates are urged to make use of the reduced fee when submitting their NEET PG exam application forms, aiming to create a fair and supportive environment for medical hopefuls.
