An MCD-run primary school instructor is accused of hitting a class 5 pupil with paper-cutting scissors on Friday before throwing her over the first floor.
The girl was attacked with a tiny craft pair of scissors by the class teacher, Geeta Rani Deshwal (26), before being thrown from the first story of the building. Deshwal has now been arrested. Papers, books, and bags were all over the classroom as pupils reportedly fled in fright after the instructor allegedly threatened to hurt some of them, according to police. Vandana, the wounded child, is being treated at the Hindu Rao Hospital and is reportedly no longer in danger. The event happened at the Nagar Nigam (Balika) Vidyalaya in Model Basti, central Delhi, across from Filmistan.
According to Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code, a case of attempted murder is being registered, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Shweta Chauhan. The college student is now a patient at Hindu Rao Hospital. All required examinations, including a CT scan, have been completed. The youngster is secure, is reacting well, and is safe.
When the information was given at 11:15 AM, the beat officer of Police Station Desh Bandhu Gupta Road arrived on the scene right away. In the wake of the tragedy, a large crowd gathered at the school. When the police arrived, they stabilized the situation. Many students' parents gathered afterward outside the school to protest.
Hours after the event, the MCD suspended the instructor, and an inquiry was started. The MCD stated in a statement that the girl's testing and scan findings were "typical," adding that she was "safe, stable, and responding well." "For further care, the youngster has been sent to the Safdarjung Hospital." "MCD will pay for the whole cost of the child's medical care," it read.
"Geeta Rani Deshwal, a teacher who was hired in 2019, has been taken into custody by the police." The instructor has also been placed on an urgent leave of absence by MCD. The case is currently being investigated further, and a prompt departmental inquiry will be held, as announced by the civic authority.
When the victim's mother learned that her kid had been thrown from the first story of the school building, she sobbed uncontrollably and started crying. When comforting the victim's mother, another woman added, "For her behavior, this instructor ought to get harsh punishment." "Our children cannot be damaged just because we come from a difficult background." The teacher allegedly threatened to hurt several of the victim's classmates, too.
A father of a different class 5 student at the same school said that the "headmastermaster did not even communicate" to the parents about the occurrence and criticized the MCD school system's educational program. Additionally, he said that this instructor was planning to injure other pupils in the class and that "none of the higher authorities had yet to come to school for inspection."
"Is using scissors to beat and injure children the method the school uses to educate them? Are our kids going to school for this? Who will be accountable for this? "He queried.
