The Maharashtra government is planning to open a special institute in Nashik to provide training to aspiring female candidates for the National Defence Academy (NDA). The institute, which will be the state's first, will be established with the aim of increasing the representation of women in the Indian armed forces. The Nashik institute will provide a one-year training program to prepare female candidates for the NDA's entrance examination and the subsequent personal interview. The institute will also provide accommodation and other facilities to the students. The Maharashtra government has also initiated talks with the Ministry of Defence and the NDA to set up the institute.
