YarnsKart is a blockchain based B2B marketplace that connects the entire value chain of textiles. The company's primary goal is to integrate the value chain of textiles, making it easier for businesses to buy and sell raw materials, fabrics, and garments. Sunil's vision was to bring transparency into the textile ecosystem and bring interconnectivity into the value chain.
How was it started?
Sunil Singh had always been interested in the textile industry. He had a background in textiles and had seen the industry evolve over time. However, there were still many challenges and loopholes in the industry that needed to be addressed. The textile industry in India had been functioning in the same way for the last 500 years, and it was time for a change. This is where Sunil's idea for YarnsKart was born.
Sunil had an idea, and he was determined to make it work. He had a background in textiles, but he needed help from the tech industry to integrate the two. He started by discussing the idea with his contacts from the tech domain and did a lot of research. Sunil and his team met the entire textile chain, including weavers, spinning, stitching, and garment manufacturers.
After doing their research, they registered their company on August 20th, 2022. They started working on revenue-wise things and got a good response from various buyers. When companies came to YarnsKart saying that they were not able to find too many sustainable sources in the market, YarnsKart came into the picture and helped them. Yarnskart provided them with the transparency they needed and helped them check the authenticity of the products.
What is YarnsKart?
The textile industry in India comprises mostly MSMEs, where most of the companies have one sole proprietor or two partners running the business. These businesses have to take care of their procurement site (raw material), sales site, and production. It becomes difficult for them to manage all three divisions, and they often miss out on their core activity, which is production. By integrating the chain, YarnsKart gives these businesses the option to buy and sell online. They can post their requirements on the YarnsKart website, and the sales request will be open and applicable to everybody in that domain.
What does YarnsKart do?
YarnsKart works on a 3F formulation - farm, fiber, and fashion. The company's primary focus is on sustainability, traceability, and reliability. As Europe is moving towards sustainability, the whole world will try to replicate the same thing. All the manufacturers in India do not have the capacity to think that they can work on this tracking part. YarnsKart aims to integrate the entire textile value chain with the help of blockchain for tracking the source raw material.
What is YarnsKart’s specialty?
The company's specialty is how it is making a change in the textile industry by making people understand how the industry is going to change, and they should prepare for it. YarnsKart wants to prepare the people for the future and take Indian textile products all over the world.
YarnsKart’s Mission & Vission Statement -
YarnsKart was born out of this vision, and Sunil was joined by co-founder Sounak Shah in building the online b2b marketplace that would connect the entire value chain of textiles. They worked on a 3F formulation that would focus on farm, fiber, and fashion, and aimed to bring transparency and interconnectivity into the textile ecosystem. Their primary strategy was to interact with everyone involved in the industry, making them aware of the changes that were coming and how they could prepare for the future.
YarnsKart's vision is to take Indian textile products all over the world by integrating sustainability, traceability, and reliability into the textile ecosystem. As the world moves towards sustainability and traceability, YarnsKart is using blockchain technology to track the source of raw materials in the textile industry. This will allow end customers to know what source material is used in their textiles.
YarnsKart’s Ambition-
However, the textile industry in India was still largely made up of MSMEs, with most businesses being run by sole proprietors or small teams of two partners. These businesses had to juggle their procurement, sales, and production activities, and often found it challenging to handle everything at once. Sunil and Sounak realized that by integrating the value chain and bringing it into a proper systematic workflow, they could help these businesses focus on their core activity of production, while also making it easier for them to buy and sell online. YarnsKart aims to solve all the challenges in the textile industry.
The first challenge they faced was to integrate the entire value chain, which was scattered across different regions and domains. Most transactions in the textile sector involved travel over long distances, making it difficult to streamline the process. YarnsKart aimed to change that by bringing the entire value chain onto a single platform, where buyers and sellers could connect with each other easily.
The second challenge was to prepare for the future of the industry. Europe had come up with a resolution that would require sustainable sources or products to have tracking details by 2025. This meant that end customers would need to know the source material used, and the world was moving towards sustainability. YarnsKart aimed to address this challenge by working on a formulation called STR, which focused on sustainability, traceability, and reliability. They planned to integrate the entire textile value chain with the help of blockchain technology, which would allow for tracking of the source raw material
