Mahindra has officially introduced its highly anticipated XEV 9e electric SUV in the Indian market, alongside its sibling, the BE 6e. The XEV 9e, part of the automaker’s “born electric” lineup, is priced starting at ₹21.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). Deliveries are set to begin in February 2025, marking a significant step forward in Mahindra’s electric mobility journey.
A Striking Design That Stands Out
Contrary to earlier speculations that the XEV 9e would resemble an electrified version of the XUV700, the SUV debuts with a distinctive and modern design. It features a triangular headlamp cluster, flanked by LED DRLs extending across the vehicle’s width, and a refreshed Mahindra logo positioned above the DRLs.
One of the standout elements is its coupe-like silhouette, achieved through an unbroken line running from the front to the rear, complemented by a sloping roofline. Adding to its sporty appeal, the XEV 9e is equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels featuring a unique design.
In terms of dimensions, the SUV measures 4,789 mm in length, offers a ground clearance of 207 mm, and provides ample storage with 195L frunk space and a 663L trunk capacity.
Spacious Cabin Loaded with Tech
The interior of the Mahindra XEV 9e reflects a focus on space and technology, thanks to its underfloor battery pack. The dashboard is adorned with a three-screen setup spanning 110 cm, alongside a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo. Notably, the SUV boasts a total of five screens, showcasing Mahindra’s commitment to tech integration.

Under the hood, the Mahindra XEV 9e is powered by a 79 kWh battery pack, delivering an ARAI-certified range of 659 km, with real-world range exceeding 500 km. This battery supports an electric motor generating 286 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, propelling the SUV from 0-100 kmph in just 6.8 seconds.
Additionally, a smaller 59 kWh battery pack is available, paired with a 231 hp motor, and supports 140 kW DC fast charging for added convenience.
