Manipur has once again descended into violence as fresh clashes have left four people dead.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has handed over the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for investigation.
Protesters attacked a CRPF camp near Thangal Bazar, set two oil tankers and one truck on fire, and destroyed a makeshift police outpost.
Security forces opened fire, injuring five people, two of whom later succumbed to their injuries.
Movement restrictions have been imposed in Bishnupur district, and mobile internet services have been suspended for three days in five districts of the Imphal Valley.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as tension continues in Manipur.
